![]() ![]() And because of that momentum playing defense in Madden is about 5x harder than it is playing offense. I know what you're thinking."Real football has momentum". That's to be expected considering how old the franchise is.IMHO, something happen to Madden back in 2001 when they decided to implement "momentum" into their game engine. IMHO, NFL2k3 and the new ESPN football have always felt like they've represented the on the field pace of real football better than Madden.Madden has always been the better simulation (even better than Front Page Sports Football now.kinda) and it's generally been one step ahead of Sega when it comes to features. ![]() Picked up Madden 2004 for my PC today.Let me start by saying two things.1) I don't, and have never, like Madden's momentum physics. That'd mean I'd have to buy an adapter though. Good call by hughesmar (below) - I forgot about online updates (those are free, right?). But their sub-par rosters could very well cost them my money - at least this year.EDIT: Crap. IMO, releasing a football game in preseason is very similar to releasing a game that isn't finished yet and/or is buggy. To answer my own question, the reason they release it now is Money$. That reminds me: Why the hell don't they wait until the regular-season rosters are finalized before releasing the game?!? - I, for one, would be happy to wait for up-to-date rosters because it would spare me tons of dicking-around trying to get the rosters accurate. I was still developing my 2003 franchise team as of a month ago! I cringe at the thought of re-doing all of the mini-camp drills, developing my team, creating my playbook, and updating all of the rosters (because they'll all be different by opening day). Can I import my 2003 playbook, or franchise?!In any event, it's going to take a lot for me to get on-board with 2004. and there were plays/formations that are legal, but weren't allowed by the editor. ![]() How's the create-a-playbook? - Did they improve that? 2003 pissed me off because they limited the range of receivers' routes too much. Flipside79: I'm assuming you own the game, then. ![]()
